05.06. Me Succeeds /// Café KoZ

ms_web

ME SUCCEDS

Hamburg-based electropop-trio Me Succeeds releases their fourth album „Rongorongo“ on the selfmade label i saw music. The band will autonomously distribute the record, manifested in 180 gramms of vinyl, clad in screenprinted artwork. In addition the full album will be available as a free download on isawmusic.de.

The naming of „Rongorongo“ refers to the long lost language of the Easter Island that is deemed indecipherable. Me Succeeds tell of this oblivion, of the incomprehension and of losing the relation to oneself. But the songs featured on „Rongorongo“ remain unintrusive and leave room for interpretations.

Musically, Me Succeeds stick with the classic indie-sounds of bass, guitars and stageorgan, but arrange them with the beats and the simplicity of house- or minimal-techno structures.

15.05. Andy Dixon (Secret Mommy/Caving) + Mega Duktus (Les Trucs DJ-Tag-Team) ab 21 Uhr im KOZ

1505_koz_web

Official:
Secret Mommy is Andy Dixon, head of Ache Records, Visual Artist and ex punk-rocker.
This Vancouver based project is known for using and combining samples of field recordings, pop artists like Pink and Shania Twain and spheric sounds to proper electronic pop Songs. Secret Mommy´s music is easily described as experimental electronic music, but it has this polished outfit and all those little subtleties which imitate the situations Dixon must have been faced with while he recording and producing this kind of Music. It´s a complex situation…you can almost taste “the books”, yet you can almost use the band name “Lucky Dragons” to describe the music, but it´s just simply hard to gasp the dixon momentum while sucking you into his world of sound.

Secret Mommy – Extra Various

th‘mole

Th‘ Mole, AKA DJ 0.000001, makes undefinable music which is scientifically designed to make you happier, stronger, and more beautiful. With a live set combining colorful costumes, ridiculous dancing, confetti cannons, and sometimes a gorilla, he will make you rejoice and dance your pants off.

His music has been released by numerous indie labels (Daly City, Hectic, Zhark, Anti-Party, Vaatican, etc.), and he has toured Europe six times, as well as Canada, and many times throughout the US, sharing stages with such notables as DJ Krush, Venetian Snares, Ghislain Poirier, Living Legends, Meat Beat Manifesto, Mark Mothersbaugh, Alias, Riddlore, Jason Forrest, Drop The Lime, K-The-I???, Otto Von Schirach, Broken Note, 6Blocc, Filastine, Bizzart, Curse Ov Dialect, The Chicharones, Josh Martinez, Realicide, Bleubird, Hecate, Baseck, Sonic Death Rabbit, Orko, Mochipet, Hottub, Food For Animals, Azeem, and more. Whoop-tee-doo!!

with approximately 115db of complex sounding, yet rhythmical-melodic synthesis of eight legs, four heads, about 10 percussion instruments (acoustic / electronic), 5 stringed instruments (electronic / midi), ancient computers, roughly 357 keys (black / white) on ~12 keyboards (synthesizers / toys), somewhat 820 feet of cable and a digital mixing console. the later devices are to be found, placed on a table in front of a stage, which domiciles a drumset /w drummer, whilst the residual six legs simultaneously execute the process of actuating the remaining equipment by means of coordinating mazy movements in highspeed. Receiving the knertzy audio-visual simile may lead to impulse of motion.

NEWMEN

NEWMEN is a trio distilling noise out of pop jungle(s), post garage(s) and neo wave(s).
A sound experience oscilating between asphalt, sun and disco. Oh, and by the way: they are boys from the corners of frankfurt.

Wie immer im IvI, Kettenhofweg 130, 60325 Frankfurt. Ab 21:30 Uhr werdet ihr rein gelassen…..

21.04. AUN // thisquietarmy // IvI-Atelier // 21:30 Uhr

2104_ivi_2 web

Doors: 21:30 Uhr.

thisquietarmy

thisquietarmy is the experimental guitar-based project of Eric Quach from Montreal, Quebec, Canada – active since 2005. Revolving around improvised drone music, he takes his sonic experimentations further by adding textural and structural elements of post-punk, shoegaze, krautrock, post-rock, black metal and doom metal to them. The results can be described as dark, melodic, expansive and engaging dreamscapes. His live performances are mostly presented as a real-time score to hypnotic ethereal visuals, which he creates himself for each performance.

thisquietarmy has also collaborated extensively with Aidan Baker (Nadja), Monarch!, Scott Cortez (Lovesliescrushing) and Yellow6, and has several side-projects (Destroyalldreamers, Mains de Givre, Parallel Lines and Ghidrah). He sometimes perform under the moniker hi my quiet tsar for his synth-drone/noise project.

With already such a large body of work released and over 200 performances all over Canada, USA & Europe, thisquietarmy is a forward contender as a pioneer of the experimental music scene emerging from Canada.

AUN

AUN are a Montreal-based band that melt the boundaries between psychedelic, electronic, ambient, industrial and doomgaze music. AUN have performed at the Mutek, WGT, FIMAV, Swingfest festivals, and are now set to appear at the 2012 Roadburn.
